Doubles. What Do They Mean
The big X goes on partners bidding slip. Now what does this double mean? Takeout, negative, responsive, penalty? Without getting too caught up in the names here is an outline of how I like to play what a double means in various situations. In some cases this may mean a discussion with partner to ensure you are on the same wave length.

These are all standard takeout doubles. Opening hand or better, either with support for other suits or a strong single suited hand with 16 or more points. |
